Plan ahead and always edit. My teacher always says that. I also have trouble writing the thesis and then i screw up the essay. Say to yourself, "Does my thesis answer the question?" If it does then good. Let your friends or teacher help you edit. Hope this helps.

What's the subject matter? I've been writing for over 20 years and the tried and true method is always write "what you know."
Experiences and interactions with other people, a very interesting thesis, in my opinion, would be the popularity of Yahoo Answers. No joke- how you see it, what are your observations when you read questions, how you approach your answers and how others come to theirs.
Good luck, I wish you all the best!

Go for a walk. Get away from you paper for a while, the fresh air will help, and being quiet will open up your mind more. Don't worry about the essay while on your walk, and I bet lots of ideas will pop up in your head while you are out. You just need to back away and clean the clutter out. Good luck.

Choosing a topic that interests you may help you with the whole process. I'm not sure what your topic area is, but can you do a diiferent take on the subject or look at it in a slightly new perspective? Is there something about the topic that personally interests you?

A good rule of writing and speaking is: Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them and then tell them what you told them.

Grab them with your opening, hold them with your body of information and then finish them off with your conclusion.

I hope this helps in your writing process!

Plan your whole essay out before you actually sit down to write the whole essay...

Make an organizer...it helps!

Include details that set the mood for some readers in the beginning of the paragraph.
For instance: On a windy and dusty November day...
Include adjectives, adverbs, prepostitional phrases, verbs, etc.
Include metaphors and similies.
Include how you felt about that sitiuation.
I hope this works out for you. It did for me. ;]
