This is a hard one, having lived in both places. The USA does appear to have the edge on the written constitution and the checks and balances offered by congress. However, the past six years show how that can be abused when the executive and congress are in cohorts. Europe does have the edge in civility and style.

Europe is like America - some good things, some bad. Anywhere you live is going to be, in large part, what YOU make it. You have the freedom here or in Europe to move around as you see fit, so why not give it a shot and find out for yourself?

Depends on what part/country in Europe you're referring to. You can forget comparing most of Eastern Europe with the U.S.
As someone else said, everyone has their own definition for "the quality of life". It bothers me whenever people say "the U.S. needs to be more like Europe", because Europe has many problems like we do, yet these people think it's a utopia or something.

Go to Europe if you believe so .
It might enlighten you to know that our town of 303 people with numerous houses for sale due to an elderly population that is moving to a warmer climate has seen an unusual trend lately.
At present 3 house are in escrow to people currently living in Europe. Two have been sold and people are living here 6 months at a time until all their paperwork is changed from tourist or work visas for them to get permanent residence ( I don't understand it all so excuse my confusion of different visas)
The one man is moving his family out of England from what he calls the "Muslim invasion" his words not mine. He also swears they are buying up small villages and getting a political voice and he wants no parts of it. So I gather we are getting one of England's racists after the New Year.

Hi,
I'm French and I really know Europe and quite the USA... I like both of them..
I could read some people how where talking about terrorisme.
But it's the same risk in Europe or USA (please, remember the attacks in Paris, N-Y, London and Madrid).
Europe is a better place? I don't think soo... It depend for what you are looking for.
If you wan't fun, go to London. If you wan't party, go in spain, if you wan't a romantic place, go to paris, you can go in the north in europe if you wan't to visit nice and peace places...
At least but not last, Europe and USA can't be compared, but they are complement each other...

I admit its luxurious, but Dubai is so SO SO HOT! My plane made an emergency landing in Dubai, we had to land out of the airplane, and my skin was on fire for 15 minutes going down the stairs (fifteen min cuz the lady on the stair below me was taking her time), and then for another 20 minutes on the road to the bus to get to the airport which would supply us with another flight. I can't stand that much heat lol. @asker- the airport is magnificent! I've been there, it seemed heavenly after a long walk in the heat! It was air conditioned, the architecture was very advanced, there were robots walking around holding luggages, fake fire, and the sky was starry, it was a fake starry projectile on the ceiling! made me feel like I was in a Middle Eastern Hogwarts lol!

I doubt it. Europe has constantly been plagued by wars and problems. They have never been able to assimilate immigrants bc they are obsessed with their racial composition and history. For example, Belgium is half French and half Dutch and they can not unite even though it's just two European groups. (Switzerland is similar.) Also look at their unemployment, debts, etc. It's really not good, plus they couldn't even handle Kosovo or Bosnia. Also despite what they publish the poor have less living space, opportunities, or central air/heating than in the US. Really think it over if you're planning to move over there.

Well, the whole world is growing more ignorant as we speak, no matter where you are. America just has the worst ignorance and misbehavior. If you ask me, the world will be a bad place, no matter where. That's why I want to start a nation out on the Atlantic built of yachts and bass trackers. Not pretty practical, though.
If you want to go to Europe, I'm not going to stop you.

Depends on what you're talking about-- in general I'd say not better but on a par.
Quality of life and what is valued there is different than in the US.
I think unemployment and GDP growth are not as good in Europe as in the US right now.
There are quite a few things that you simply can't get in Europe compared to the US. Likewise somethings are better in europe.
The Euro is a bit stronger tho

I have a friend who goes home to Sweden every summer. Every year she complains more and more about the new immigrants that have moved there. Sweden's violent crimes are higher than ever and she was astounded at the increase in rapes.
