I have smoked since I was twelve, I'm now twenty and I want to quit. The problem:I just looooove smoking! I smoke two packs a day if I'm trying to be good, four if I just smoke all I want. I realize the health impacts. I have seen pictures of a lung ridden with cancer. Grossed me out but did not make me quit. I tried the patch, the gum, the inhaler, been hypnotized, tried cold turkey, DID NOT WORK! I even drove an hour to a nature preserve, hiked thirteen miles into the middle of nowhere, leaving my beloved ciggarettes behind, I hiked back that night and drove to nearest gas station to get a smoke. I need help!

Hey, admitting the Need to Quit is the first step! There is an injection that you can get from a doctor. They featured it on WTVT-Ch 13 in the Tampa Bay area. It costs $500 but will keep you from Smoking! It is a mixture of two-drugs that makes your body React Violently when you smoke, or chew.
It is sort of like the Drug, Antabuse, that they give to Alcoholics, that makes them vomit if they take Alcohol.
Yes it is drastic, but has almost a 90% success rate!

Clearly you are addicted. I smoked Newport 100"s for 13 years and quit off and on, I have now been smoke free for 7 years. I quit cold turkey. The first three to four days were hell and my children thought I was going to murder them! Once I got over the threshold, it got easier as the days passed. now I can't even stand the smell of the smoke. You have to have a made up mind that it's something you are going to do and stick to it no matter what. I am now addicted to double mint chewing gum, which is a far cry from the Newport. It's not easy, but when you achieve the desired end, you'll feel such a sense of accomplishment. I can't really tell you a secret formula, just make up your mind if you are really ready to quit. I lost my brother to lung cancer this year, he was 56 and smoked since he was 13. I miss him terribly and would give anything to have not smoked myself at all. GOOD LUCK!

I smoked for 30 years, and stopped cold turkey when my doctor told me that I had emphysema starting, it sure wasn't hard to stop then.
Don't waste money on the over the counter aid to stop they do not work!
Throw the dam things away and buy yourself a pack of gum put a tooth pick in your mouth, but be careful chewing on it as wood swallowed can cause real problems, I haven't smoked since 1979,
you will be surprised how much better you will feel.
I started out counting the hours since I smoked the last one and then the days, and then months, remember you go back to zero if you smoke just one, good luck I hope you quit if I didn't I wouldn't have taken all this time to advise you!

If you love the outdoors, you might have a chance. For me, I quit cold turkey the second I started mountain biking. I fell in love with the sport, and fell out of love with smoking. Since I started biking, I haven't had a single ounce of a craving to go out and buy a pack, let alone bum a smoke from someone. By the way, I smoked a pack a day for eight years. For me to quit cold turkey like that makes me realize that I'm truly passionate about biking. I guess the key for you is to find something that you can be truly passionate about.

You need a reason to quit smoking and want to quit. That is most important. I used a combination of the patch in addition to Commit lozenges starting with the full strength patch and lower strength lozenge.
I also had my wife supporting me so a support person helps a lot. I put up pictures of my kids on the doors with the words you don't need to smoke. I already had to go outside to smoke so this was a good reminder not to and had my wife destroy my cigarettes. Suck candy helped me as well. I also was on Welbutrin for two weeks prior to quitting and through the twelve weeks on the patch.
I had tried 6 times prior so keep trying.

yeah, it depends on if you really want to. Its interesting because I smoked more than a pack a day for several years, but it was mostly because I was bored, or hung out with other people who smoked. I've recently just taken a job in a different country and though I still want to every once in a while, I haven't. I think it's because I've completely changed up my "daily routine" and I'm occupying myself with other things. I can breathe better, and don't cough as much. It's great.. I really don't miss it that much. Try finding other things to do with your time. You'll be amazed when you realize how much extra time you have not having to run outside to grab a quick smoke and always trying to find time to squeeze one in, or find the "smokers lounge". Good luck!

I quit and I must tell you it is the hardest thing you will ever do. Nothing will make you quit, no patch or drugs. You must decide on your own that you are going to do it. The stop smoking aids may help, but first you have to make the decision. Cold turkey worked for me. and zyban after two or three days helped my attitude. Smoking is a pleasure and quiting is like losing a best friend forever. You just have to decide--never again, not even one smoke.

I quit cold turkey 2 years ago this past September. It was the only thing my son asked me for on his 16th birthday, so how could I refuse? I laid them down and kept reminding myself of the promise I'd made to him. It's not easy at all, but you have to want it before it can happen.
I also pray every morning for the strength to continue NOT smoking, and so far, so good.

You have to WANT to quit before you can.
You don't sound like you're ready yet.
