ok about half a year ago the police took my dad to jail for somethin he didn't do (we already got that setteld and we went to court and won) but the police knew that my mom was at work and they were going to take my dad to jail for the night. so they left 3 kids at night with no parent. ( i was 13, my brother was 14, and my sister was 7 at the time.) Don't u think they should of sent us to somewhere like a relitive or something. but they just left. Don't u think they should get charged with somethin. i mean u can't leave a child at home alone until they r 18 right?

can't help ya with american law

In Canada, a 12 year old can legally babysit although I wouldn't personally recommend it. But it's sort of ergo, if old enough to baby sit, old enough to stay home alone until mom gets home.

I have let a 14 year old babysit for me, so the police likely thought your brother met the age standard...you too for that matter

As for your additions, I know my 15 year old nephews have been given the weekend at their house (parents gone away). But they're good boys....

What's really bugging you? Is it just that you're ticked with the cops for bustin dad, apparently mistaken identity? Or did your brother abuse the authority of being the boss of the house for a couple of days.

I'm seeing down there the standard is pretty much 12. Trust me, you wouldn't have wanted to go to a group /foster home unless absolutely necessary. And if bro was 14 and you 13, I'm sure you guys coulda handled it. So, what's really buggin you about this?

The age in GA. is 12. Do you mean to say that your parents never left you guys at home by yourselves? If they havent then you must be extremely immature. I let my 14 year old stay at home alone , and have no worries .Do you have any thing else to whine about little girl?

in most states aslong as theres someone 12 years or older then u can leave them there because someone at 12 years old should know how to contact a family member or neighbor if something goes wrong. also theres family friends

TEXAS - CPS-- as long as the child (and at 14, you should know) knows what to do in an emergency, and can get in contact with an adult relative, they can be left alone.
