I'm applying to a gradute program that requires the usual materials including three letters of recommendation. However, I graduated from my undergrad college 10 years ago and have no contact with my professors there. To top it off, the degree I'm considering (Creative Writing) has nothing to do with the degree I earned as an undergrad (Technical Theatre). I have a couple of letters from employers but I know that this isn't enough. Can anyone provide any advice on what I could do?

Since this is a creative writing program, you have a bit more leeway. Have you published anything? If so, ask your editor, or anyone who has reviewed your work in print.

However, even though your undergraduate degree from a decade ago seems to you to have little to do with your intended area of study, I strongly suggest you get in touch with former English, Literature, or even Theatre professors and ask if they are able to write for you. Contact them by email, and attach a sample of your recent writing, as well as a current resume.

I know, you think there's no way they'll remember you.

But let me assure you, I have written many times for students from a decade ago. Even if I don't remember them *well*, I still remember them, and the materials they send me enable me to write a good letter.

From my journey of attending to well known grad colleges and using to them, i got here across that they could choose letters from professors, yet once you've been out of faculty for awhile, they're going to settle for letters from employers. i imagine that see you later because the letter shows them your ability to finish properly in graduate college, then it really is going to be effective. sturdy success!
