Of course you will, my dear. We are all perfectly designed for this task. It is shocking, but it is true. I was so lucky in my first pregnancy - I had a self hypnosis tape that i used for the deliver and it was wonderful. I had a short labor and an easy delivery. The tape kept talking about how perfectly designed we are for this. Peace and trust is what you need and I so wish that I could just send you some - the only thing I can offer is the mental ways to ease your passage into motherhood.
Try your own visualization and intentioning. Sit quietly for at least 3-5 minutes and relax. Breath deeply and relax as comfortably as you can (maybe in the bath tub) and create the picture in your mind. See yourself happy and calm, looking lovely and peaceful. Imagine the trip to the hospital as calmly and naturally as can be. No anxiety, no worry, just peacefully getting into a room, being examined and hearing your doctor say "you are ready, this is going to be easy!". See yourself relaxing and maybe even falling asleep while you await your baby. Envision a short labor and a healthy child. See an easy deliver and easily adapting your life as you flow with the changes of this important time.
Do this as often as you can for as long as you can, and keep doubt and negative thoughts away. If you have a negative thought, just brush it off with a correction. If you think "I don't want to be induced!" stop and mentally or out loud say "That's not what I meant to say. I am perfectly safe and I am looking forward to an easy and quick delivery".
And don't be in too much of a rush - the child will be here in her own time and your life will never be the same again. We need to enjoy each stage of our lives for as long as it lasts.
Peace and blessing to you and yours! xoxo!

Sorry, hon! I had the same problem and i didn't dilate until I had been induced, and then it took 7 hours before I was dilated more than 1 cm. I tried every wives tale out there - walking, sex, warm baths (not too warm)... but nothing worked.
Being induced isn't so bad - it was actually very convenient for us and our parents. They were able to get to the hospital in time to share the experience.
My labor only lasted 12 hours total - so I wasn't in labor very long after being induced. But my Dr. didn't use pitocin. He used a med that is traditionally used to treat bleeding ulcers. It was a pill that is taken orally, but he inserted it instead. He told me prior to the induction that it was not approved to be used in this manner by the USDA , but that he'd had excellent results. You may want to ask you Dr. about other options besides pitocin.

walking, anything active...just don't over do it. yes there are things that work. you are smart to not want to be induced, it has traditionally made labor longer. you may open up....but you do not want to go to far over. your placenta will start to "expire" if you get to over due. that is not good for you or the baby. I understand....been there. and I am 36 weeks right now. best wishes.

Most of these things are wive's tales. Your body could change and you could dilate like that.
I've heard nipple stimulation can help your body produce oxytocin which causes contractions.
