Just get a good acne treatment like Proactiv, then you don't need foundation.

i have two foundations - a summer one and a winter one, the first being a shade darker than the latter. You don't want to get your face tanned anyway... you'll look ten years older than you are when you're thirty. what i normally do in the summer daytime is I wear a light tinted moisturiser with at least SPF15 in it and then at nighttime i wear the darker foundation with my normal blusher. it works out easier that way and i agree that bronzer and foundation together is a bit of an overkill. with the darker shade of foundation and your normal blusher though, you acheive the look you want. have fun experimenting!

If you are in UK go to boots and look at their No7 range, there is a foudation called intelligent colour - it comes in 3 shades. It is not thick and heavy or really runny, so its so easy to apply and you wont get tide lines. Its about £11, but worth it. In the summer i dont really wear foundation, but i think you can buy ones that act as a sunscreen aswell - probably cost a bit!

There is a make-up line called bare minerals. It heals your face as you continue to wear it. You eventually need less and less of it as your skin heals. It is a foundation. Many people have said that they fell like they aren't even waering any. It's a very light powder. I even use it myself. You can only order it online I think. You can't get in the stores here in Tx that's for sure.

I have to say that I love Bare Minerals make-up. It's a powder that's all natural, so it doesn't bother your skin; it has great coverage, and you can go with a darker/lighter shade for the appropriate season. I've been using it for over a year now and I wouldn't switch back. Good luck!
P.S. You can find it online, or at Sephora.

I think base is a must and there are so many great formulations out there that you are sure to find something to suit. You don't mention your budget but I would recommend a spray-on product such as Era Classified Cosmetics which is available from Space NK. These sprays look absolutely perfect and they blend with your own complexion so you don't get that weird mask-effect.

i know everyone is anti sun bed but for people with problem skin it is fantastic. doctors even refer you to hospitals now for sun bed treatments if its bad enough. my husband and eldest step son have pretty bad skin. last summer we got married so we all used the sun beds so that we could have an all over colour for the photographs. my husband was amazed in the change in his skin condition and we both looked like we had been on a fabulous holiday and the photos turned out brilliant. you dont have to go on everyday. every two days for about two weeks then just twice a week to keep it topped up. hope this helps. x

If you already wash ur face regularly, and you sitll have acne, go see a dermatologist.
-for the summer, i invested in Jergans Natural Face Glow... and there is also Jergans Natural Body Glow. It works great and is only a couple dollars.
- For the winter i like TruBlend by Covergirl. It is whipped but feels like powder and stays on great!

You should try one of the make-up counters in the big stores, like Benefit or Mac. They will give you advice and show you how too apply just the right amount of make-up for your skin type and tone.

You could get one of those moisturisers that have a small amount of fake tan in them - you just apply it and it gradually builds up a tan. theres ones for your body and face. Or tinted moisturiser
