1. in a set of numbers, range is the difference of the largest number and the smallest number
2. in a function, such as domain and range, range refers to the output or y

In a set of numbers, take the largest and subtract it from the smallest, such as:
1, 5, 6, 9, 23, 25, 32, 49, and 62, the range would be: 61
(largest number = 62 ... smallest number is 1)
Take: (62-1=61!)

Range is taking the highest number subtracting the lowest number. In case you forgot this too, Mean is the average of all the numbers. Median is where you set up the numbers from least to greatest and cross out all the numbers til you get the middle number. Sometimes you will have two numbers left and then you would add them and then multiply those numbers by 2 and whatever is the answer of problem then that's will be your median.

To find the range in mathematics you simpily subract the largest number in the set, from the smallest number in the set.
i.e. the range of [5,7,12,14,36,63]= highest term 63 subtract by the lowest term 5 = 63-5 = 58

Domain and Range.
When you have a function, you have a formula which you will give a value to, then the formula will create a new number.
For example y = 2/x
X is the number you give and Y is the number it will create.
The type of number(s) X can be, is the domain
The type of number(s) Y can be, is the range
In this example, X is all real numbers except zero
Y is all real numbers
Basically, you can think of range as all the number you could ever have as you put different numbers into the function.

range...
the difference between the greatest and least values in a set of data. [take the biggest and the smallest # and subtract them from each other.]
example:
1, 3, 5, 7, 9
^^ ^^^
the least is 1 & the greatest is 9.
9-1=8.
therefore, the range is 8.
hope this helps. ♥

The range is is the distance between the largest and the smallest. Usually when you are asked for the range you simply have to list the largest number, then the smallest.

like britty said: the range is the difference btwn the largest number and smallest number in a list of numbers given to you.
simply when they ask you the range of the list of numbers, subtract the biggest number to the smallest number.
for example:
1,6,7,10,5,15
the biggest number is 15
the smallest number is 1
the range is 14.
^^ hope you understood!
