I am really bad with coordination. I seriously can't even walk and drink water at the same time. I have to stop and take a drink. I'm in lacrosse, and I am honestly really terrible at it. I constantly drop the ball, miss a catch, or am just plain clumsy. So my question is this: is coordination something a person is born with, and some have it, and others don't? Or is there a way to improve my coordination? How would I go about improving at lacrosse or just coordination in general?

With lacrosse the way I improved my coordination was playing wall-ball.

I would spend hours and hours throwing against a brick wall, but when you do it don't be flat footed, keep moving your feet, and use both hands, even if you are terrible.

If you do it long enough you do get much better.

I would also take my stick and ball out when i went for jogs around the local park and would cradle the whole way, changing hands, and throwing ball out in front and charge for the ground ball.

It works really well.

When playing wall-ball mix it up a bit as well. Play long balls (not near any glass windows, I learnt that the hard way) some days and short balls on others.

i played lacrosse, and a good drill to improve your catching and throwing skill is to throw a ball off a brick wall and try to hit the same brick every time. As you get better move back away from the wall.

Any chance you get to throw and catch will help you. once you get that down try regular stick drills while running.

Dont worry, you can develop coordination. My coach always says play wall ball as much as you can. I also hear learning to juggle helps but personally i can catch anything (well, almost lol) and cant juggle to save my life. So just play wall ball at a local church or school anytime you can.

i performed objective on my football team, and made it so a approaches as a school scholarship, olympic progression pool and some semi-professional. used to do a drill that i imagine might want to translate to hockey. you'll choose a chum, a tennis ball, and a brick (or similar) wall. grab your blocker, stick, and your capture glove, minimum. face the wall, beginning about 10 ft away or so. have your chum stand in the back of you, and shoot the tennis ball on the wall so as that it bounces at you. (you do not favor to be sure the shot, purely the rebound) have him commence with wristers, then bypass to slap images. at the same time as 10 ft begins to be basic, bypass up. finally you'd be very few ft from the wall, with little or no time to react. will sharpen your reactions like you does no longer believe. for further dificulty, use one among those canines balls with the six bumps on it. (appears like a ball with 6 0.5-balls connected). it doesn't leap immediately, will make you that a lot speedier
