i am a hostess at boston pizza....its fun. however i think the waitresses get paid alot more (because of their tips). we get tips too but not as much. and also we might possibly have more responsibility because last friday, me and my friend were working and we were short $50 at the end of the night..kinda sucks since we have to pay it back..but who knows because waitresses also have to have all their money too..but i think to become a waitress, you have to be a hostess for awhile anyways. so then you can see what they're both like

Waitress definatly. Even thou it goes on volume of customers, you can still make more per hour than a hostess. There are good days and bad days to waitressing. But its definatly worth it. Some jobs you have to start being a hostess to be a waitress. Keep a track book of all the tips you make. You will see how much more you can make :)

Waitresses make more money in tips, but waitresses have a much more demanding job.
You would typically start out as a hostess if you don't have any restaurant experience and then move up to a waitress.

Hostess has to deal with both customers and servers. You are the middle person. You don't always get tips.
Waitress has to deal with customers and cooks. Must run around like your head is cut off. But in the end if you were good and customers like you, you get tips which you may have to share with others like hostess, cooks, bussers. Lots of side jobs you have to do like stock up and clean. Also waitress has to carry heavy plates constantly, may be a problem with you can't balance things well or have wrist problems.

I think a hostess is a better job because even though you don't get tips you don't have to worry about dropping any food or getting an order right or wrong.

A waitress would make more money. It is a lot harder work being a waitress. You would get the tips, unless the restaurant make the workers divide the tips.

Do you prefer more money or less work? Waitresses (if they work hard) get mucho tips. Hostesses don't have to do as much, but no tips.
