I will be getting a new computer here pretty soon and would want them be both internet accesible to play online games. What do I need to buy?

I'm assuming you have high speed internet already, so you need a router. If these are desktop computers, you'll probably just use wires(Cat 5) to connect. The router should have a small switch built in, it'll probably have 4 fast ethernet ports, so you can plug in up to 4 computers.
Your new computer will probably have a wireless card. If it does, and you get a router with wireless, you're free to pick it up and wander around with it. It's a safe bet that a router with 802.11G wireless will work with it.
Don't forget about security. You should be able to get a firewall on your router, without raising the cost much at all. If you're getting wireless, you'll also want to have WPA to secure your wireless.

about modems:
Your internet service provider probably is giving you a modem, and you'd just plug your router into the modem. It keeps it simple. These days, most isps just loan you the modem for free, so you don't have to worry about it.
If they're charging you for the modem, you can get a router which has a modem built in. For instance, if you have ADSL internet from your phone company, you can get a router with an ADSL modem built in, and save some money.

A router is like setting up a miniature network in the house. This is the best solution to getting another computer in the house hooked to the Internet. The router is like switch and modem all in one.. If your ganna play games on the Internet you would want to get Internet speed that would handle the needs. I would talk to the cable guy and tell him what it will be used for and he will set you up.

Get a router or a basic mini switch . Connect cat5 cables from each computers to the ports of switch. Setup internet connection and/or lan in both the computers. This is all u need.
I have got an 8-port Ethernet mini switch in my network which costs around 700 indian rupess ( equivalent to $ 16 ).

First if you want to both be gaming at the same time you should have a pretty fast internet connection.
Secondly, you need some sort of router where it be wired or wireless.

You need to buy a router. With that you can hook up both computers to the internet.

Looks like they have answered your question. You just need a router! It can either be a wired or wireless. Whichever you prefer. However, if you prefer a wireless connection, you will need a wireless adapter for your computer.
