Posssibly you meant to write a leading parenthesis

(3x + 2)(3x + 4) = 18
9x^2 + 12x + 6x + 8 = 18
9x^2 + 18x - 10 = 0

This does not factor, but can be solved using the quadratic formula:

[-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a

Multiply the parentheses first:

9x^2 + 18x + 8 = 18

Set = 0

9x^2 + 18x -10 = 0

This doesn't factor - are you using the quadratic formula yet? If so that is what you do next.
