my husbands grandpa is dying so im trying to be nice to my in-laws till this all passes.we dont get along to well but im trying to be civil. anyways, we were at the hospital (me,my husband, his mom, his sister, her hubby and their 3 kids.). i was sitting in the waiting room breastfeeding my 3 month old daughter. i was fully covered. my shirt was covering everything but my babys eyes and nose. well my sister and mother in law come barging in and my sister in law starts bitching at me! she said that i need to put a blanket over what i was doing! i said my shirt was covering everything up! she said that it didnt matter i needed to cover more she had children so i needed to do a better job of hideing it! i said whatever and ignored her. this really pissed me off. SO WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS AND BREASTFEEDING?? i told my hubby and he said ok to her no longer being aloud around me and my child or allowing her in our home. :)

if this wasnt a sad time for them then i would have told her that she shouldnt have left her kids with us and to take her and her kids to the other side of the room and to stop ******* staring at me if she didnt like! i hate having to suck it up and be nice sometimes :(.

Your going to get comments like that! Welocme to the Breastfeeding world! I breastfed my son for 26 months due to food allergies and Ima strong believer of self weaning. But regardless if you would have been wearinga low cut shirt would she have confronted you then? you would be showing more than if you were breastfeeding. OBVIOUSLY she didnt breastfeed her children and shes afraid of what her children might ask. Its sad how something so natural had been turned into a big no no in the 60's and has lingered on even in the year 2007. Keep doing what your doing and let it be your going to get comments or looks TRUST ME I breastfed two kids 1 till 9 months and the 2nd 26 months

First, Congratulations on your baby!

I think you behaved perfectly discreetly when you were feeding your baby and you should ignore ignorant people when ever you can. They were probably stressed because of the anticipated death of their grandfather.

Be ready for her next time though. The W.H.O. (World Health Organization) says that all babies should be breast-fed for a minimum of 6 months, with nursing up to 2 years being advisable.

Good Luck and please continue to give your daughter the very best start in life - breast milk!

I have no idea why tight a**ed women have the gaul to even make comments like that.

Breastfeeding is a natural thing. When are others going to realize it is natural and HEALTHY for both baby and mother.

Your sis in-law can take a flying %*&^.

it sounds like they just want to find something to complain about.i would just ignore them next time.if they say something cruel get up and leave or just act like you dont hear them.i wouldnt let them even bother me. there is more important things in this life than these mean people. dont give them fuel for the fire and act like it doesnt even bother you.one day they will be sorry. what caused them to start acting this way with you in the first place?are they just unhappy with their lives or what?
