I have a 7ft. Christmas tree and I fill the base just about to the top every day. Am I putting too much? I don't want to drown my tree!

You won't drown it. The stand should always have water in it. I usually fill mine every day.

Enough to keep it from drying out. That basically means sitting the trunk in some water container and keeping it full on a daily basis. Merry Christmas.

It can't drown - it is not alive.

To keep it moist keep refilling as high as you can, particularly in the cold weather when the heat is on in the house (not like the mild weather this week).

The easy way to check is to dig your finger into the top of the soil upto your first knuckle, if the soil feels damp do not water, if soil feels dry water, It's a simple "trick of the trade" i was taught when doing my horticulture trade, it works on potted plants & also 30ft trees in your garden !!
