Wow...don't listen to the loser who answered before saying it's weakness. Women bleed and get their period because the lining of the uterus thickens (once puberty starts) to get ready for pregnancy. The ovaries release the eggs (I think it's usually 1 egg each time because I remember somewhere seeing that women are born with all the eggs they'll need in their lifetime, unlike men and sperm) and unless it is fertilized with sperm, it leaves the body during your period. A woman's period is a continuous cycle until menopause begins (late 40s-50s), so the lining of the uterus just thickens and comes off again and again unless the woman gets pregnant. If she does, that's where the baby grows. There are cramps because of the lining detaching. The pain varies from person to person.

When you have a period, what you are seeing is the lining of your uterus that is shedding. Your body released an egg at some point prior to that, and it was not fertilized. So this thick wall that's developed for the fertilized egg to implant itself into, wasn't needed, so every month you don't get pregnant, it will shed. Some women may experience cramping because of the discomfort of the uterine lining shedding. If you have a lot of discomfort, I would recommend you see your gynecologist. Good luck!

No, it is your body ridding itself of old fluids that are unused which were prepared for said egg which didn't become fertilized. THe blood is exumed from your body, egg with it, and then a new batch prepared 'in case' you should have one become fertilized. This menstrual fluid is very special and not part of your normal blood supply. It is converted into building blocks for the new life you sustain when/if you become pregnant, and is used in concert with other new materials produced from the nutrients you eat during pregnancy and the fluids you drink.

there, did that help?

they blot because theres still blood that cant come out as easily

there are cramps because your ovary walls are contracting to move the blood out

and the blood isnt really all blood but the deteriorated lining of our ovary walls. its the nutrients that would have been used if the egg have been fertilized by sperm.

Oh, sweetie, I guess you're too embarrassed to ask your mom or a close older female friend of the family. There is a lot about it so I am going to post a link to the Wiki article about the Menstrual Cycle:

And don't pay any attention to the first responder. He's an A*S*S
