Well, my 1999 eclipse started to shake upon acceleration a week ago. On the highway, I couldn't go over 60 mph without feeling like the car was going to break apart. I had it checked out, and the wheels were bent. So i got new wheels but it still shakes just as bad. I then got new tires as well. Still shakes. Wheels are perfectly balanced and aligned. What in the world can be wrong?

The shaking definetely gets worse as I accelerate. It does not shake at all when not moving or at speeds below 20mph. At 60mph the shaking stops if going downhill.

The car was not in an accident. No clue how the wheels got bent.

Assuming road is perfect, and you did balance the wheels and tires, that would leave the engine and suspension.

Eclipse is a front-wheel drive sports car, so you pretty much have to pay attention up front. Does the vibration increase when you accelerate, or not? Or is the vibration pretty constant? Any vibration when you are NOT moving? Keep the window open and drive next to a wall, and see if you hear anything strange.

Borrow one of the service advisors and take him for a short ride, and see if he can feel the vibration and pinpoint it.

cv joints don't do that so that's not the problem...i would first have the car put up on a rack and have someone put the car in gear and see if there is a vibration on the front wheels when accelerating....if that's OK then get a front end alignment.......if that's not the problem get the motor mounts checked...good luck

hi..... for get about rotors and the front end alignement... that would want to casue the vehicle to shake whenyou are using or employing the brake... ok. if this purely occurs once you're stopped. do this ... raise the hood.... initiate the vehicle... does it shake like the heck .. seem on the leads which bypass to the spatk plugs.... DONT contact THEM purely seem... are all of them linked.. ok...... in the adventure that they are... turn of the vehicle..... ' ok... pull off the first one... from the spark plug purely from the spak plug..!!! no longer the different end... fasten it far flung from the engine.. attempt to initiate the vehicle... if it satrts and also you nevertheless have the shaking ... then you have both a foul sprk plug or lead.. placed the lead decrease back on the plug and examine the subsequent plug interior a similar way... in case you come across the vehicle receives worse or wont initiate you comprehend that plug is okay... I had this example my %. up truck.. it shook like hell... and that i had 2 undesirable spak plugs... replaced them and altered the leads and it ran like new...

Dodge Man pretty much nailed it, but I'd also check the tie rod ends, as you said the wheels were bent, so I'm assuming from some sort of accident?

the front wheel drive CVJ's (constant velocity joints) are probably just worn out ---get a price on the repair before having the work done and try a few shops for price

get the cv shafts checked out, tierods and wheel bearings can also cause a shake. the shop that did your tires should have checked that stuff when they did the tires.

Sounds like your tires could be out of balance or just bad tires or out of alignment
