It's something that catches the attention of the reader and makes them long to continue reading. Give a story about a sea lion saving a life or some fact that makes you say "Wow..." that will make your reader say "Wow" as well.
"Many years ago..." is a good way to start.

First you start telling about the history of sea lions. For example, Sea Lions were first discovered back in the 1800's. That's not true ok, I'm using it for an example. An introduction is like the main part of a story. It must includes information about the specific topic you're on.

A natural phenomenon that captivates us all are the adored Sea Lions. These mystical yet playful creatures bring innocence yet beauty while admiring them. Through out the years many generations of kids fell in love with Sea Lions because of the features they portray while giving us a better and close up encounter with a sea creature. These beautiful, majestic creatures are fun to wach, more to learn about and show us what innoocence is about. -here is where you put your thesis or main idea/what you will discuss in your paper about sea lions and write one more sentence after your thesis and then you are done.

An introduction should include a "creative clencher". Something that makes you want to read the paper, like a quote or a question. The rest of the paragraph usually includes an overview of what's to come. Avoid things like My paper's about..., or my teacher assigned us to... You also need to have a theses statement. This is one or two sentences that sums up the main idea of your paper. In lower levels, this was I don't believe in school uniforms because, they're ugly, they stifle creativity, and they are expensive. In Higher levels, you try to imply these without nessesarily stating them. Hope this helps and I hope you love to write as much as I have grown to!

All ways start with an interesting paragraph that just makes you want to read on. Not facts but like:
ex: Through the clear ocean waters a creature of enormous size lurces of great danger but yet also great kindness.
