For a urinary tract infection they do a urine sample analysis. Had a yeast infection before, but always just got the kit from the store.

You will either go to a hospital or your doctor's office and a nurse or lab tech will hand you a specimen cup. You will collect your urine in the cup, they will take the cup and do a urinalysis on it. It is a machine that will detect for the presence of abnormalities. From there they will be able to determine if you have a UTI. for the yeast infection there may be a different procedure. If you have any questions just call your nearest Emergency department and they will tell you.

For a UTI, they ask you to pee in a cup and test your urine. It only takes about five minutes, and generally, they'll know before they do the test, just by asking you questions.
Not sure about the yeast infection, though. Usually the symptoms are pretty distinctive and they can make the diagonosis based on that.

Urine sample might have to be sent out if a dip stick is not conclusive....and a physical exam to rule out the yeast infection with a swab - no need generally for further diagnostics for that one - it is generally a no brainer for them.

When I was diagnosed with a UTI, all I did was pee in a cup and they tested it and figured it out that way. Also, I told them my symptoms. I self diagnosed my yeast infection and got OTC meds for it.

A urine dipstick is the quickest way for bacteria, and a wet mount slide works well for yeast infections.
