Take it to a mechanic and have it looked at. If you need to ask don't try something on your own. Brakes are something you don't want to mess with. This could even be something in the master cylinder, vacuum booster or the brakes. Get safe save a life, who knows might yours or a family member.

abs lite means nothing, the abs does not affect your brake operation. If your brakes are stopping your vehicle, even though hard to push, and they aren't making any unusual noises, like scraping and such, then you have a problem with your brake booster. It is attached to your master cylinder and operates by vacuum. Could be as simple as a vacuum leak in the hose that attaches to it. Check it out before you let these "mechanics" cost you you a big bill.

you would have to scan for the abs light, the rid light is usually on because of either low brake fluid or the e-brake is on......if the pedal is hard. that is usually a power booster problem...take it to a pro and have it checked, brakes aren't something to screw around with if you don't know what your doing

go to a shop that can fix brakes ---do not mess around with your car brakes-----you could make a mistake that can cause an accident or you might not be able to stop your car and run into someone----------- good brakes are cheap insurance to prevent an accident...

Take it to a shop. -_-. You are seriously risking exponentially much more money by taking advice off some toolbox on Yahoo Answers who is going to get you to mess your vehicle up more than it already is. I say again, take it to a shop.
