Oh no! Quite the opposite in fact. I think a southern drawl on an attractive woman is sexy. I grew up in California which--hey, let's face it--has maybe the finest selection of gorgeous females on this Earth. But I moved to Austin, TX a few years ago to attend the University of Texas. Well, let me tell you: Austin, per capita, has more hot women than California. And to me, a big part of their allure is the way they talk. The first time a Texas coed come up to me and my freinds and asked: "Do y'all mind if I sit here?" I was hooked for life!

For me personally (From upstate NY, in my 20s, mixed), and other WoC I know, it's not so much the "uneducated hick" stereotype that turns me off when I hear a southern accent, so much as the racism and strong gender roles I associate with the south. I can't tell you how often I've encountered "southern gentlemen" whose chivalry is more based on making themselves feel good and limiting what I can do than actually valuing women. Add that to the history of racism (not that the North doesn't as well, but the south was and still is particularly rough) and a thick southern drawl is more an indicator to be cautious than a turn on.

A slight accent would be OK. A heavy southern accent would likely irritate the hell out of me. I lived in Georgia when I was a kid for a few years. It drove me nuts.

Of course not! I personally find the southern accent very attractive/endearing. A definite plus for me.
And besides, southern belles talk so slow that before they can say No, it's too late.

I think it is wonderful to listen to the variations of English with different accents. As long as I can understand the person, it is not a problem.
Personally, a southern drawl is pretty nice. I can't wait for my son to pick one up. He has been living in Georgia for a while now.

If somebody'd gotten turned off by an accent, then they need to not let their expectations run amok. They'll never be happy, because not everything can go as expected, gotta go with the flow.
