Yes. And it is amazing that anyone can say that they have because it shows that they care about someone else. I hate to see someone in pain and those close to me, can share the pain with me.

Yes, I sat and held a sobbing ex girlfriend of my brother once(he had broken it off with her for another woman)..I could literally feel her heart break in two. I will never forget that feeling. Her ribs and backbone were poking out because she couldn't eat over the stress and I just sat there and patted her back and tried to choke back tears. Heart wrenching!
Also, when my mom's younger brother died two years ago, I knew her heart had broken beyond repair..even to this day she is someone completely different. I won't forget the life that drained from her then.
It's an awful feeling.
Have you?

Yes. I've seen the look of hurt on someone else's face when I said something that didn't sit quite right. In the moment, it feels like I want to take it back to spare them the pain, but in the end it's better to get the pain over with. That way they can move on and begin to heal.

Ouch yes. Plus I always feel bad if it was me who did the breaking. *sigh* Otherwise, I usually listen to those who need an ear or a shoulder from someone else who has a broken heart.

Yes, my children's. As they get older it hurts even more.

The hardest part is to let them sort it out for themselves and learn from the experience that broke their heart instead of trying to make it better. As much as they would like to, some things a parent just can't or shouldn't do.

Yeah since I work as a volunteer with hospice, I work with families whose hearts are breaking badly over the immanent loss of a loved one...it is not easy but it does help to be there for them.

I've been watching my Fathers heart break and crumble as he cares for my Mother over the years. Though she is barely recognizable as the woman he married, he loves her all the same...

I saw Ralph Wiggum's heart get broken by Lisa Simpson once. Does that count?

The question is, have I ever not? I hate to sound like a broken record, but is the ability to do so a blessing or a curse?
