I see these all the time- plastered under an American flag. What do you really mean by this? How do you want to see the troops supported? Or is a statement against people who wish to see the Iraq and Afghanistan wars end? A little of both??? Have you thought about it?
Supporting troops, to me, means supporting what the people fighting care most about: their families, adequate medical coverage, an exit strategy, PTSD and mental health support, a sense of a job well done, strategies to support lasting peaceful resolution of the issues. What does it mean to YOU? Do you have a "support our troops" decal?

duc: are you implying that one choice of vocation is more important than another? What do YOU do? What about those who put their lives on the line in other ways, so that wars don't have to be fought? Is the military the only entity, in your mind, that preserves "freedom"?

These decals are just decorations for the cars. Most people don't care one way or the other for our troops. I don't have a decal on my vehicle stating "support our troops", I was a soldier for almost 21 years, it doesn't mean anything at all to me seeing these on peoples vehicles.
If you claim to support the troops, then get our troops home where they belong. Do something other than placing a decal on your vehicle claiming you "support our troops".

This is such a touchy subject.....I have a decal magnet on my car. My husband was in the army for 5 years, his father is retiering after 30 years. Both of them served in Iraq and his father was in Opperation Desert Storm. I have granparents that are verterns and many other friends that serve in other branches. I beleive in the cause and that our troops are doing their job. It is so very hard to have loved ones over seas and away from you. I think that the war needs to end, but even when all of our troops do come that doesn't mean they won't eventually have to go back or go somewhere else. I suport my troops and the families of the troops. I'm proud of my freedom and so greatful for it. I couldn't have it with out them. God Bless America and Our Troops!

Like Vietnam many people (incuding the rich and famous) are apposed to the war and don't send their kids to the war or support those that go.There are people who say we should support the people in "harms way" even if they disagree with the why we are at war.We owe our support to the people who have and are at war for this country.Today we could be speaking German,Japanese,or some other langauge if our troops didn't risk life and limb for us.

I do have a sticker on my car to support our troops..... there are many ways to do just that all of which I have done.... starting with sending care packages to them... writing them letters to let them know they are not forgotten over there in the war....praying for them, their families and their safety, befriending the families here that are left without their loved one, being supportive of their roles in the military and not saying we are in a war for no reason ( TERRORISTS STARTED A WAR ON AMERICA ON 9-11-01 PEOPLE WE ARE THERE FOR A REASON! ) Being active in the political process by VOTING ! BEING ANGRY THAT OUR PEOPLE ARE AT RISK AND BEING KILLED BECAUSE SOME "RELIGION" SAYS AMERICANS ARE EVIL! BEING GLAD WHEN 6 MUSLIMS ARE KICKED OFF A PLANE FOR PRAYING TO THEIR "ALLAH" ... THE SAME " ALLAH" THAT SAYS AMERICANS ARE EVIL ( according to muslims that is!) AND MOST OF ALL WISHING THAT WE COULD SEND THE MUSLIMS ALL TO ALLAH! that's just me though. an american who supports her troops....my husband works for TSA and takes his job very serious doing his part to support our troops while protecting civilians from the rotten terrorists planning to use airplanes again to devastate our country again. GOD BLESS THE TROOPS AND MAY IT END SOON! (not griping so much at the gas pump is another way too)

my younger brother is a marine so i'm supporting him. not the war and not this administration. i'm just standing behind the men and women who give their lives to keep this country safe, albeit, under false pretenses(WMDs). maybe the 'support our troops' magnets were created because the last time the US fought in an unnecessary war(Vietnam), the troops were not supported back home. they were shunned, hated, yelled at, and spat on when they came home from that war, and they were just doing their jobs.

Ya - it is humorous to work out all those "help our troops" issues on the returned of peoples' automobiles - yet our troops have been denied weapons and armor and go away and rotation - and whilst they get domicile they are denied scientific help and so one etc. individuals are frequently finished idiots - they only opt to look like they help troops - frequently they do no longer care. The conflict would not touch them - they only desire their tax rebate verify.

it means i support them 100%, that i am greatful for what they are doing.they are fighting so that you can sit behind your keyboard and type whatever comes to your mind. its called freedom. without these soldiers we would have no freedom and you would be trying to find another way to spread your word.
