i buy a small item, like a votive candle for the "big boss" only because she usually buys us all a small token also. Then i also give same to my immediate supervisor, just because she is my supervisor and i like her. Then after that, i only give the same to people in the office that i am friends with, and there is usually only one or 2 of them, because most people i work with are jerks. But i try to make sure that the others dont see so they dont get jelious.

You should buy a Christmas gift for someone you work with a lot on a day-to-day basis. Or someone you have a lot of conversations with. Definitely someone you can call a friend. That is usually the way to go.

I'm not sure if you should buy anyone anything in a business setting. Might not seem professional. Unless you're friends outside of the office, then I suppose that should be okay.
