I think if you are Christian it is definitely too commercialized. Otherwise, no. I am not a christian so it doesn't really bother me. I think the earlier stores get ready for the holidays, the faster I can get my shopping done with. And if you think about it, there IS a major emphasis on buying, but most of what is being bought, is being given. So in the end it all works out.

Definitely - I remember the good old days ( which weren't too long ago..lol) when you didn't see X-mas stuff on display until nearly Thanksgiving. That seemed appropriate.

When it goes up when the Halloween stuff isn't even up, then that's just crazy, and rings so much about the commercialization of the holiday.

i think that the average joe is immune to the hype the stores try to push and he realizes that they are just trying to make a buck off of him. i mean, C-mas isnt like it was in the 1950's, but what is!? But, overall, i think that most people still appreciate the true meaning of the Season and appreciate the time with their families and enjoy it, even though the retailers try to shove their products down our throats starting right after Halloween.

I think if you go to Church then go and celebrate the reason Christmas is intended for. Other than that I would like to just skip it. The songs aren't happy songs anymore, they are sad and depressing, no matter what you buy for someone, half of it is returned or never used, and it's just wayyy over rated.

yes.. it is easy to get caught up in buying just for the sake of buying and not based on "special" gifts that mean something. i try not to buy my little boy anything for months and save it all for christmas so it means more.
i find myself not even reflecting on why we have christmas b/c we are so busy.
