At Top Dead Center you can see the Lifters that are at the bottom of their travel. That will involve 8 lifters. Tighten the rocker arm bolt one at a time until the movement of the push rod is gone. Then tighten the Rocker arm bolt 5/8 of a turn. Then turn the engine over one complete revolution until you can set it at Top Dead Center again & set the remaining 8 lifters. Done Deal !

the proper way to set them is when the lifters are all the way down in their bores this is when you tighten the rocker nut until there is zero lash at the rocker tip at the valve stem tip, then you turn one full turn from there

when a piston is at TDC of the compression stroke then both lifters are all the way down and can be adjusted

some ppl will say oh you can do it with the engine running but well thisis very messy and not accurate at all, and you will not have them adjust properly, when they are adjusted properly then the plunger inside the lifter will be centered inside of it, in which is zero lash plus one full turn

this is why GM says zero plus one full turn

its for a reason, and dont believe anything else than that because it would be false

good luck

I set them with the engine running, back them off till they tick then run them down 3/4 of a turn.
Works great everytime.
