They DON'T need his SS# from you. They will find it. Give them the info you do have and it is THEIR repsonsibility to track him down! Here is a linke to OCSE-click on your state and get your local CSA information.

in the meantime--apply for every service at your Human Service Department--ie food stamps, medical etc--that will compel your state to act!

If your still speaking with him you can make up a reason to need his social #. Do you have an old tax return of his? His social would be on that. You can tell him you need his social for something that involves the child like... your opening a bank account for the child with you and he as custodians. Or you need it for school purposes - you want to put him as an authorized person to pick your child up from school/preschool/babysitter in case of emergency. Just be creative - It will save you having to spend money to find out the hard way. I have a dead beat Ex too. You'll learn little tricks like that. Get started ASAP. It took me almost a year just to get a court date for a support hearing through the local child support division. Didn't cost me any money though and when they did order it the support was backdated from before the hearing. Good Luck!!

if you have his last name, phone the motor vehicle licensing place and get his driver's license number. with that they can get his address and usually any other info they need.

another option, more expensive, is going to a lawyer. if you have his address have him served with a court order to appear. he'll be ordered to give this info under what is called "discovery". you should also ask for cost which will pay for the lawyer.

if you can contact a member of his family who is friendly toward your situation they can get it for you as well.

be careful. this is a long and hard process at times, so it may take some time, but will be well worth it in the end.

you may even wish to try contacting your local police department and ask them what you can do legally in order to obtain this info.

the only other option is to hire a reputable private investigator. they will be able to get this information.

hope this helps. good luck to you - i've been in the same position and it did take some time, but as i said, it was well worth the effort and expense.

i'm not sure what county you are filing in but i didn't have my children's father's social when i filed for support. the only thing i need was his address and full name. i hope you have those things at least. or you could contact pro bono lawyer and see if they can help you. good luck

you dont need his social initally. i didnt have my childs fathers social. do you know his address and things like that? go down to the courthouse in the child support division. they can help you there. do you get any government services? they can help also. does he have a criminal record? look it up and see if you can find his last known address. do you know his birthday?

If you know his name & date & place of birth the state can get his SS#. If you know none of that but you know where he can be served with a summons, the state can still get his SS# (providing of course he HAS one).
