Why is it ok to show the most macobb violence and rotting corpses on television, but showing a naked person or showing two people making love is unnaceptable? Did janet jacksons breast offend you? Should sensorship dissapear or change or is it good the way it is?

Most Americans are more offended with sex then with violence. Seems the same with most Muslims... Here in Canada we're offended by both when it goes too far but found the story about Janet Jackson only a marketing spoof. No one I know was offended about such a thing.

It's a society standard, I'm afraid. (By the way, the correct spelling of macobb is "macabre." Sorry for being a spelling-Nazi there. I won't do it again. Promise.)

Anyway, society seems to think that violence is an acceptable part of life, but sex isn't. As to why, I don't reallly know. Whenever I ask anyone, all I hear is that "it isn't right." Then the subject gets dropped.

For example, when a certain religious R-rated for violence movie came out, people who never went to see R-rated movies went to see it. Even my grandma, who refuses to watch anything rated PG-13, made an exception for this movie. When I asked my grandma why she was contradicting herself, she said that violence is okay as long as there's no sex or nudity. I asked her why she didn't mind violence and she said "it's a part of life that people need to accept." I told her that without sex, there would be no life, so shouldn't people need to accept that, too? She just said that sex is an unfortunate fact that people have to live with. Sadly, the majority of society feels this way about violence vs. sexuality.

Janet Jackson's breast didn't offend me in the least. My sensibilites are not so delicate. I thought the big fuss over it was hilarious. I think censorship is wrong and that if people don't like to watch something, they should change the channel and stop forcing their views on everyone else. It really isn't that hard. These days, they don't even have to get up from the couch. One little press on the remote and voila! All gone!
