i just had a biopsy today. it hurts. but its bearable pain. its a dull pinch and its over in 2 minutes. my actual pap test had said that i had been exposed to hpv, but the biopsy and colposcopy both determined i didnt have it, or any traces of it. abnormal pap tests are very common, it happens all the time. a simple mistake in the lab is usually the case. dont worry, youll be fine. good luck to you! :)

It is pretty common to have an abnormal pap smear. In most cases there is nothing wrong, but it could be an std or virus. I recently had an abnormal pap and had to go in for my biopsy. I was freaked out too. And I'll be honest it hurt to get the biopsy. My doctor cut off three different cells for the biopsy, she said it would be like a pinch, but I cried. And you bleed for like two days. Also if they say you will be fine by that afternoon don't believe them. Spend the whole day at home in bed, it helps.

I had the same thing happen to me. I went for a biopsy (they just cut out the abnormal area of my cervix) and sent it for tests. Then I had to go back 3 months later, the biopsy came back benign and the area that he cut out never came back. So all in all I wouldn't worry about it, everybody is different, but they say that alot of women end up with abnormal paps it's not uncommon. A big reason for abnormal pap tests is HPV which alot of women have and don't know it. Good Luck and I'm sure you'll do fine.

Well i don't know everything but biopsy sometimes means HPV commonly known as genital warts. If that is the case, the procedure is not terrible but it can get uncomfortable. They are looking for cancerous cells from the biopsy. Talk to your doctor before anything and ask them why did they choose to do a biopsy because abnormal paps are not always followed by that procedure unless its a little more serious.

ive had 3 abnormal biopsys and the 1st and last one hurt very badly but they were done at clinics so maybe thats why. but its very common to have a abnormal pap if you get paps like your suspossed to then it should be anything bad.what it is is abnormal cells on your uteris and if not treated can lead to cancer. if they see it soon then they can see if its alot or a little bad cells. then they have to perform a copo test on you which at first seems like a pap then they spray vinager and water in your vagina that burns a little but then it gos away after like 5mins its kinda uncomfortable. when they spray that its to see how many bad cells there are and the vinegar turns white that see how many there are so when they spray ask how many bad cells where they because they normally dont tell you. then when they see some they will take a little biopsy and that hurts to it feels like a pinch hopefully they only take one sample on the cells. from there on they will test that to see how bad it is and the test will take about to weeks. they say dont have sex for 1 or 2 weeks so you can heal down there...DONT HAVE SEX!!! i did four days after and i was in so much pain.. get some medicine after ward for any pain...OH and take some a while befor to..i hope this info helps

I have had two abnormal paps over a 15-year period. I don't think it's really uncommon. The biopsy feels like the needle prick of a shot, that is, on the same scale. BTW, both of my pap smears turned out ok. Try not to worry - chances are it's just a one-time oddity.

abnormals are quite common, could be caused by numerous things, including having sex the night before your pap smear. The biopsy is pretty much the same as going in for a pap smear, only they are taking cells from the cervex for testing, so no pain.
