If 4/7 are male, then 3/7 are female.

Let x be the total number of students:
(3/7)x = 3,600

Multiply both sides by 7/3:
x = 3,600 * 7/3

Simplify:
x = 1,200 * 7
x = 8,400 students total

The answer is: the total enrollment is 8,400 students, including female and male students.

See below calculations. 3/7 = ratio of female students to total student population, as 4/7 are male ratio.

3,600 = 3/7 (n), n = representing total # of
students
3,600 divided by 3/7 = 3/7 (n) divided by 3/7

8,400 = n (total number of students in school,
including male and female students)

Given the above, you can construct the following equation:

(3/7)x = 3600

where x = total enrollment

Solve for x and get x = 8400.
