so far i have been ill during my pregnancy. i found out a couple of weeks ago but have been getting sick for a month or so. i have missed about 4 full days of work and my vomiting has only gotten worse. so far my supervisors have been accepting, but not happy with the fact that i'm missing work. i'm about 6 days from getting fired. is there anything that i can do, other than quit, to make them see that not all the women that get pregnant and work there are the same??? some are sicker than others.

i have been going to work sick usually i end up throwing up in the bathroom but imagine puking in a toilet that at least 300 women us in an 8 hourshift! i'd rather stay home and puke in a toilet that 3 people use. and they know i am pregnant, but when you work for men they really don't care as long as you show up for work.

Well, have you told them that you are pregnant? If you have told them that, then really the only option would be to quit. I know exactly how you feel. I am 5 weeks and I haven't told my supervisor yet. I have been coming to work and just puking nonstop it feels like. If you can just rough it out at work. I wish you the best of luck!

Get your doc to write you a note and let your boss know about the pregnancy. I almost got fired one time due to being scheduled for a late night and then a very early morning. I was up all night sick as a dog. They told me that I couldn't come back to work without a doc note. I keep my job and even when I was that sick I still went in to work. They might of sent me home a few times but al least they knew that I was sick as a dog. They really aren't suppose to fire you just because you are pregnant but I know sometimes it happened. Just go to work sick and they will eventually get the clue. Good Luck!

I know how you feel. I am 18 weeks preg, a full-time college student, part time student teacher and part time waitress and i had such bad morning sickness in the beginning that i felt like just giving up on everything and staying in bed forver. i ended up telling my restaurant job that i was pregnant just so they wouldnt think I was slacking off for no reason. They were ok with me missing the days where I could not deal with smelling and serving food. Maybe you should just have a serious talk with them about it, im sure they will understand. Maybe even get a letter from your doctor explaining (thats what I did). i dont think they would fire you once they had something in writing from a doc.Good luck

if possible, go to your doctor and explain the situation. more than likely they will be able to at least give you some type of form describing your illness. if not, sit down alone with your supervisor, and be honest. explain that you have no control over your illness and that you still would like to be a part of the company and that you value your current position. but also include that you understand their possible frustration with your calling in. apologize, and tell them that you will make every effort to come in. when i was only 2 weeks pregnant, i had the WORSE case of nausea. when customers at my job would walk by me with strong perfume or strong food, i almost fainted. i was also very tired. i talked to my manager about it, and he was an asshole and said that he needed someone reliable. so i went in everyday, sick and all, and then one day he finally acknowledged my determination and willingness to come to work even though i was sick. he was way more understanding from then on. i really hope it works for you, but no matter what, don't stress, and focus on your new blessing that will be here soon:)

Whatever you do, do not quit. If you have been there for at least 3 months at least if they fire you then you can collect unemployment. If you quit you won't receive a penny. I had a bad illness pregnancy too and I feel badly for you because I know how uncompassionate employers can be for time off work...I got fired from such a place. Anyhow, nothing you can say will make them understand so don't even try..just make sure you follow the guide lines...get sick then get a note from your doctor....or seek short term disability if your doctor could set it up for you.

There are meds that your doc can prescribe for people that have really bad morning sickness, I don't remember the names but my sister had them when she was pregnant, she was sick all 9 months and at the end she finally asked her doc and after that she was fine, it's something that you take before bed.
Best of Luck
