I should mention that this has not been going on for the whole 10 years. I saw his temper right after we were married but not as bad as it is today. It has been in the last 4 years. I have asked him to see a doctor to have a mental evaluation. I was thinking maybe he had Huntingtons or something. Maybe he's just depressed. Either way he hasn't been mean the whole ten years or else I would not have had 4 kids with him. I would have left sooner. Thanks for al your help.

And to sound like the ytpical abused family He really can be nice at times. He does have his tender moments with the kids.

His father hated him. He was a " drunken mistake" his words not mine

Speaking as someone who had a similar emotional problem it sound more like anxiety than depression.Tactfully suggest he sees his doctor not a psychiatrist. If you say that he will tell you he is not mad etc. There is a lot of crap written about mental problems and it could quite simply be a chemical imbalance in his brain. Let the doctor suggest the psychiatrist, not you. If that is what it is then medication is the cure. Just a someoneone with thyroid problems takes thyroxine then people with anxiety and depression take other tablets. It is no problem but society makes a bigger issue of it than they should.

typical woman defending a abusive relationship even though you know things will never change in some cases they can,try no make him go to see a counsellor on his own then you two have marriage counselling he needs to also go to alcohol groups and get clean if he doesnt then the two of you need to leave and move on i know there are children but your only harming them they see more bad than good and everything sticks to there minds do you want your son being like your husbund or more so would you like your daughter to marry someone like her father??

Take him to counseling and yes if he has a disease than that wouldn't help make date nights get him anger management and treat yourself to a massage.
