in the console world, it's an all out war. each console that comes out has to have SOMETHING to get people to buy it. Sony decided to go the route of over-complexing thier units and cramming in a bunch of processing power to make it look worth the 500 bucks. Wii is half the price, it's not as powerful, but, it's gimmick is the game play.

it's allabout the impression. When it comes out, it has to look.....new. There has to be something different and better about it then PS2. If it's the same old blah, people will never buy. And it also big CASH$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. You saw the commotion on opening night (or heard about it). If they wanna make big money out of PS3, it's gotta look good, right? Sony fools the audience into believing a highly complex and confusing console strikes all other game consoles with lightning. The root of it all is GAMES. That's why it is called video GAMES. Video game consoles were made to provide entertainment and enjoynment to the lamely bored. Now, if you like PS3 games, by all means, get it. But you have to remember, the console is not the best part of the the Video Game World. it's not the whole point at all.

Because in 3 months, when everyone gets bored with the novelty of the Wii (and realize that jerking a oddly shaped controller around isn't all that), people will buy many ps3 and many ps3 games and sony will then proceed to create a new island off the coast of Japan, an island made entirely out of money of course...

They DID focus on gameplay. I am sick of you people with the Wii. Maybe some of us want a system that isn't crappy. We want GREAT GRAPHICS. Oh and how is a processor making it complex for the game PLAYER. It may make it tougher for the developer, I don't really know, but doesn't make any difference to teh one playing. Although it will get rid of the glitches that are caused by not having enough power for teh games. It will allow MORE POWERFUL GAMES. This is what Gamers keep saying they WANT. MORE POWERFUL GAMES. Fact is they are trying to make consols more like computers.

"Have fun playing Chicken Little on the Wii. I'll stick to Metal Gear Solid."
Why would I want to play chicken little? Why dont I rather play a game thats better than both... Zelda.
but back onto discussion, nintendo emphasized on the controller, xbox on early launch, so ps3 had to be unique themselves otherwise no one will buy it, they went on heavy specs.

You may think that PS3 is stupid however "hard-core" gamers will enjoy the large, seemingly usless, complex, core processing what-not. And $$$$$$$$$$$ is a big part of it to.

Because they feel since they are coming out with something so new and so spectacular it has to have all the features that nothing else has no matter how crazy they are. They think about the money. They were thinking about themselves and their own profits

Big, Flashy, and Beautiful...the $500-600 price tag is going to kill them, however, after seeing how interactive the Wii can get...i own a PS2 and I love it, don't get me wrong, but they kinda hurt themselves with it I think....

Because they were high. What do you expect? With all the cash
from the PS2, they had to spend money for money somewhere...
