the only notable teams USC played are #6 notre dame #17 california and maybe #19nebraska. florida had to play #9 LSU, #11 Auburn, #13 Tennesee, and soon #8 Arkansas.

USC is ranked higher than florida because the AP, USA today and Harris pollsters all see it that way.

thank you for not crying about how USC's loss was worse than florida's loss.

strength of schedule is important, but so are the following:

1. win-loss record
2. style points (how they won or lost those games)
3. is the team getting better, staying the same or getting worse?

if it was purely strenght of schedule, would you rank a team who played and lost to nothing but top 25 teams #1? that's absurd.

both florida and USC have strong opponents this year, but USC didn't schedule anyone from the C-USA or any division 2 teams.

USC is playing better every week. they convincingly beat 3 ranked teams in a row. they are moving forward.

florida barely beat south carolina at home and barely beat florida state. the gators are just staying the same.

so when it comes to this year's rankings, the pollsters have taken into account a lot more than what you have taken into account.

that's why USC is ranked higher than florida; and that's why you don't work as an AP sportswriter or ESPN college football analyst.

Where to start...

#1 - You seem to forget that USC destroyed Arkansas at Arkansas (yes it was the first game of the year)
#2 - USC will have had the most top 25 wins at the end of the season and beaten the most bowl elgible teams with a win over UCLA
#3 - OUT OF CONFERENCE SCHEDULE -- USC took Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame
Florida scheduled at the end of the season one of the worst teams in div. 1- AA in western carolina (2-6 or something in their division)...I lose all respect for Florida scheduling a game like this at such a critical time in their season.
#4 - Florida barely got by quite a few opponents (and should not have beat S. Carolina)

If there are two teams with identical records and, for example, one is ranked 3 and the other is ranked 4, if #4 beats a conference team handily, and #3 beats Mary Elizabeth's School For The Inept, #4 can overtake #3. Even though #3 may have played higher ranked teams that season overall. You may not think it's fair, but that's the way polls work. By the way, didn't Florida get beat by Auburn?

USC just has money and is in a large TV market this whole thing is rigged. Sure the non conference games are tough but the conference games are crap compared to SEC conference games. The PAC 10 is weak USC doesn't have a championship game like Florida will. Do you really think Cal, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Washington St., Arizona State, STANFORD (1-10) can compare to SEC teams like Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee (and we all know what Tenn did to Cal) Give me a break. BTW I don't even like Florida but I'm tired of SEC teams getting screwed

you're able to bear in mind that USC replaced into without their beginning QB for that Washington sport, and their backup had between the worst performances by making use of a QB in the history of the pete carroll era. electorate are greater in all threat to forgive a loss like that than they could be if Barkley had that style of depressing sport. you moreover might could word that LSU does not particularly have a win that they actually appeared solid - the place they actually appeared on superb of their sport. they have elite expertise yet they have performed all the way down to the point of their opposition in each sport. USC can dangle their hat on a 30-3 win over a set that replaced into ranked on the time, besides as a unique street win over between the elite communities in the country. LSU does not have any video games like that. pay attention, I comprehend that LSU followers have had it out for USC ever because of the fact the AP voted USC #a million after the 2003 season, and the opposite is real besides. yet in the top, there are solid the rationalization why USC is presently greater spectacular to electorate than LSU. That suggested, LSU has much greater administration over their championship opportunities than USC does. If LSU beats Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 7, they are going to leapfrog USC (and probable some different communities). Then, in the event that they win the rematch with Florida in the SEC championship sport, there is no longer a voter alive who might keep the Tigers out of the BCS call sport. it quite is not real of USC, who could win out and nonetheless no longer earn a call sport berth. And if LSU does not beat Alabama, then they are going to have 2 losses, and one among 2 issues would be real. the two USC won't have misplaced returned, wherein case there'll be no argument that LSU could be larger than USC... or USC might have misplaced returned, wherein case no person in the international exterior of LSU and USC followers will care regarding the relative positioning of two 2-loss communities.

not only does USC have a harder schedule but floridas out of conference schedule is full of cupcake teams. when you schedule games like that the people who vote for the AP and coaches poll's look down on you. plus florida's recent 62-0 over western carolina doesnt even count in the commputer ranking because their a division I-A school.

Don't see how Florida's schedule was all that impressive either. The other thing that kills them in the polls is that they are barely winning. That will kill them in the polls. You just expect them to lose soon so you don't rank them as high in human polls and that is 2 of the 3 polls.

It's exactly why you state, because their schedule is tougher, and they have had some more convincing wins. Florida barely stayed in there for many of their games. That being said, I would rather see the Gators in the championship game.

Because USC has more money and honestly, the Vols got what they deserved on the Vols vs Gators game. They were winning and they gave up. WTH? ~ but still Go Vols!
