Direct Democracy is where the voters (usually of a small town or county) vote directly on anything and everything.... there are no middle-men (representatives) who make the decisions.
Example; in TWO counties (one with Direct Democracy, one with Representative Democracy) there is the need to upgrade the main road.
The County with Direct Democracy would hold a meeting or election open to ALL voters to vote on the road upgrade... whether or not to do it, and how much to pay, and how to pay for it. The voters make the decisions.
The County with a Representative Democracy would refer the road issue to the county board of supervisors (elected) who would make the decisions. The voters had merely elected those Supervisors (representatives) to make the decisions.

It is where the people vote an any issue that arrises. The first one was in Athens when most cities were countries. The people of Athens would hold meetings and everyone would vote on all issues, including taxes, and war. There are no countries today that use this way. Since technology is becomeing so advanced there are talks of maybe trying to implement this idea instead of using elected representatives (Congress in the U.S.).

i think it was where you could pick anyone out of the 400 people chosen. This helped so that the other politiacians wouldnt bribe the other people to quit.

I think it is when you choose like the president directly and not like in the US, where you choose a member of the electoral college.
