Scientifically speaking, yes.
They reduce your stress, blood pressure, bring you joy and unconditional love.
It is something too great for words.
Do your research though and make sure you are getting a pet that will fit into your lifestyle.
remember, you will have this animal for many years, it'll be hard work but soooooooo worth it.
God Bless

I think it is. I'm unhealthy and I don't have a pet.. (kidding)

Pet's are especially good for people who have problems with stress, or difficulty socializing. Pet's provide a bridge between people, such that while walking thier dog an owner will get to enjoy a little social interaction they wouldn't have otherwise. ( when people ask about the pet and so on ) It also gets you out to excercise.

Being responsible for a pet can encourage a healthier lifestyle. It could even prevent or delay suicide. ( who will feed fluffy if I'm gone? )

And it's been shown that the simple act of petting an animal reduces blood pressure.

So, provided there aren't allergy problems, I'd say it's healthy to have a pet. :)

P.S. I'm sure there are some stats tucked away someplace showing that seniors with pets live longer ;)

For me? Yes. For everyone? Depends on the person and whether or not they are truly going to care for the animal. Some owners shouldn't be owners, but there is research that people who own pets actually feel better because the pet is in their life.

First of all, having a pet can bring great joy if you understand the responsibility that goes with owning a pet. If you don't, then you will be miserable with a pet and what's worse, the pet will be miserable with you. You can make choices, the pet CANNOT.

i would say yes, even though it sounds corney they are a good reliable person, i know if im sad or upset my pet always knows and always comes up to me and snuggles and it makes me feel better. their good because you can confide in them and they will never tell anyone, sometimes it good to let it all out, especially if your pet has this face that looks like their listening. =) its also proven that pets help relive stress, and can give you a good reason to go exercising (if you have a dog) so they can help you in many different ways than you know.

Although I'd like to have a Pet,I know I'd probably would'nt take care of it very well, because of my work schedule. So in the meantime,I usually play around for a moment, with my neighbor's Pit Bull puppy. That's enough for me!.

it better because it gives you something to do and something to look after like a kid for when you grow up and the pet could get you more healthy if it's a dog by walking it and playing.
