I've run into tolerant and intolerant people on both sides of the aisle.
Most of my friends are Libertarians. They're a groovy bunch of people. So I'm going to go with Libertarians. Do you consider them conservative or liberal?

that depends on the frame of reference. tolerance for different ideas spreads widely between the two groups.
I think the deeper you look into your question gets to the root of differences. What do each view tolerate and what do their decisions and beliefs to do inhibit others and what they do or dont tolerate.

The concept of tolerance is flawed and can only be applied to opinions and beliefs -- not actions or even expressions of beliefs. Tolerance of all actions is called anarchy.

I'd say both are equally intolerant. And the farther one swings to the extreme right/left becomes more intolerant.
