Ender's Game. It both appeals to young readers and it has pretty deep philosophical issues, which get deeper as the series goes on. There is so much more depth and meaning than in Harry Potter: Peter and Valentine's political demagoguery, the Hive Queen, the psychological testing of the kids through the game with the Giant. That, and Battle School is so much cooler than Quidditch.
Harry Potter is just so much "Bubblegum Fantasy". It only exists to sell books and movies, which it does very well, but that doesn't make it better. There's no real world metaphors in it, like Narnia and Middle Earth have. It's just a group of kids at a Wizard School.
That this could even be an argument makes me shudder. I've been sort of been dreading it ever since the Harry Potter movement took off. A whole generation of readers is going to read the truly great works of science fiction and fantasy (and believe me, Ender's Game is one of those works), and some will think "It isn't as good as Harry Potter".

Ender's Game was written ages ago, and hasn't even touched the edges of how popular Harry Potter has become, even with a head start.

Ender's Game. I think Orson Scott Card is a great writer and his broad range of imagination is shown in his other books as well. Rowling is good. In fact, I thought the first three Harry Potter books were great but after that, I lost interest. She has too many different (and important) themes in the latter ones and none are fully developed.
Orson Scott Card has a more mature and wider ranging voice.
Rowling's humor may be better but her motifs are found easily recognizable if one has taken a mythology class. She has reworked them in original ways but sometimes her smokescreen wears thin.
