I had a complete hysterectomy 4/2005 because of ovarian cancer. Depending on the method of removal-vaginally or abdominally, your scar will be different. I had abdominal surgery and a scar from above my naval to my pubis, closed with staples. You will have to wear a sanitary pad after the operation. The staples were removed 5 to 7 days later. There will be restrictions on lifting, showering, driving, climbing stairs after surgery. The recuperation period is 4 to 6 weeks. You will feel a pulling sensation when you try to straighten up in the beginning. I was tired from the operation for a few days due to the anesthesia, I think, but there was no unusual fatigue after the recuperative period.. If you haven't gone through menopause yet, your body will be forced into it all at once and that may bring up other issues you should discuss with your GYN. I had finished menopause by 46 and was done with the hot flashes etc. It is major surgery after all, so take it easy if you need to.

I had a total hysterectomy with my ovaries removed in 2000. It was the best thing I ever did. No more pain, no more cramps, no more mood swings. I took estrogen for a few years and that worked fine for keeping me on an even keel and then I switched to Evista which is an estrogen uptake inhibitor which prevents osteoporosis. I am fine in the hormone department although I am plagued with a chronic hip bursitis now. I do not get tired at all. I have plenty of energy, more than when I needed to get all of that stuff out.

it is kind of a big operation, you should talk to your doctor an ask him what you can expect after the operation, i believe you will go through the "change" without your ovaries. the tumors are probably what is making you so tired, there are pills to help you with the "change of life", good luck to you an God Bless!!!
