There's no doubt that the Federal Government is acting beyond its Constitutional charter. A citizen's obedience to law is predicated upon the government's recognition of the citizen's rights. But our Constitutional rights are routinely ignored by the Federal Government and we are sliding into a police state. (Quick, what's the first country you can think of that required travel papers? If you said, "Nazi Germany", or "The Soviet Union" you begin to see what I mean. Now... try to get on an airliner without identification.)

Given that the government has become unconstitutional, should we overthrow it? Or choose to be slaves?

No. The states do not have the power to do that. The occasional proposed amendment would let them do so, but no such amendment has ever passed Congress. The states can amend the constitution with a 3/4 vote, but this first as to pass Congress. The states cannot override the Federal government.

Only stronger out side country with strong influence like the US itself can do that.. It took the whole world to overthrow the chinese government, I believe you'll need the whole wolrd to help you. It really is up to us the people to unite and take the country back from our politicians. These means tons of kidnapping, and killing all the power trip idiots. Are you willing to take that route to take the country back and form new regulations, judicial system, and find the fixes for the constitution loopholes. this are big, big jobs. Who's gonna want to do this. It would be nice to overthrow current government and rebuild it, but it's just too complicated, I'm afraid.

yes. the govt is going way out of its constitutional charter. nowadays they can defend the country, enforce taxation and and fund public education and healthcare. I'll tell u: it's crazy. They even have a Congress and a Surpreme Court-Nazism is the next step up.

No we should not overthrow the federal govt. go ahead and try it. I enjoy seeing idiots on the 10 o'clock news.

Overthrow the elected government and install a military dictatorship, so favored by the USA in Latin America.

Why not Pinochet in charges and he can kill any dissenters, or better still what about Noriega, former friend of Bush and dictator of Panama ? After all he needs to get back in favor with his bosses again.

Not need to bother about elections either - the "new" President for life can just annul them.

For better or Worse

My first response is to be a slave! I don't know of anyplace else on this earth that treats it's people as well as the United States.

Quick, what's the first country that give it's citizens as many rights and freedom of travel as the United States?
If you said Russia or N. Korea give us a place to send the donations for your ticket.

Rather than posturing, why don't you get involved in your government. Try voting. 'Well done is bettern than well said' - Ben Franklin. Let your actions speak for you.
