Just grab yourself an external hard drive or a flash drive (1-4 GB) if you don't have very much to back up. You can also get portable external hard drive which doesn't need to be plugged in, they draw power from your computer.
A zip drive, such as this one:
http://www.iomega.com/direct/products/detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=40090937&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=40220179&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=63191&bmUID=1164756598346
One of these zips carry 70GB for $200 and require the purchase and use of a zip drive. You can grab an external hard drive that carries such as a Western Digital MyBook (http://www.wdmybook.com) that is 250GB for $150 at Best Buy. That is 3.5 times the storage space for 25% of the price of the initial cost of a zip drive which is $600 and 60% the price of each individual disc.

Yes you can add a Zip drive to back up your desktop. But I think a better option for you would be a removable hard drive of about 100 GB. A removable hard drive cost anywhere between $55 and $75, and is easier to use in a zip drive. The average Zip disk can only hold about 5 GB, and they are pretty much outdated at this point. I hope this helps good luck!

Yes you can.
The only concern is the number of ZIP disks that you might need to backup your whole HD (it will depend on much data you are using on your HD today).
I rather backup my data to an external HD or to a DVD drive.
Good luck

yes you can, but it's not recomended, coz to backup your desktop you will need more than one zip disk, that's why look at external hard disk.
