I didn't know they were. If they have enough money and a sponsor, which I believe is necessary, they are allowed to apply for membership.

I think it goes back to the times when country clubs only allowed people of color in as employees. Many of the members today come from "old money" and unfortunantly, even though the world may be more accepting of people who look different than they were even just 15 years ago, a lot of these people were raised being taught they were not to disagree with what a parent, grandparent, or any other older relative (especially the one with the money) believed.

What do you mean by "hard time"? Being admitted to country clubs?
This is an easy one to figure out...Same reason we're given a hard time anywhere else.

Maybe it's because it's a "country club".
Never been to one, so not really sure.
