Honey, first off....depression is a serious thing....if you feel depressed, then you probably are.....to feel stupid to go to a doctor for help is NOT STUPID.......hon, that's what doctors are for.....I have bipolar disorder....and I felt stupid too, for years.....and felt also like I was a big baby and couldn't control myself....but luckily I had a few good friends that saw my situation and coaxed me into seeking help.....if someone thought you were stupid for doing that...then they need more help than you do....don't be listening to others, hon....I know being young it is hard not to do this,.....and you wouldn't have to even tell your friends you sought help.....that's a suggestion I have also....and it is very normal for young people to get down, depression knows no boundaries.....good luck to you....keep your head up and please seek a good doctor to help you out....or simply seek a therapist maybe?....I use both conventional meds and herbs for my bipolar and depression spells.....but by all means....don't think you are stupid....you sound like a very intelligent young lady for even asking this question so pat yourself on the back for that already!!

No!! but it does show low self esteem, are you being told you are? I was when I was young. It's not a very good thought it can take you down a very dangerous path of self destruction, our self image and self worth is what makes us who were are to others if the people you are around you hear you say this after awhile it may become a stigma and you don't want that, It's hard being young as it is without this on your shoulders ,and don't give in to that thought it's hard I know think positive, you are as good as the next person if not better, but without kowing you I can just give you my experience, The world these days put every bit of emphasis on looks, smarts, job status,If this thinking goes on then please seek counciling and find the root of your opinion of yourself Remember we are all the same inside. Depression is an inbalance in our brain chemistry, actually I think your brave to even admit you are most people shut the door on this subject. It isn't making you a baby it made you responsible for your feelings, most people I know would never adnit it or just take a pill and forget it you confronted it or if you haven't you will. just like those who are heavy they feel depressed, they eat, your depressed so you admit and confront the issue I applaud any young person to say this, You'll be ok Just worry about one day at a time, do'nt worry about tommorrow because you don't know what tomorrow will bring, Take care, amy

Well, no harm in asking! At the end of the day, no one else's non-professional) opinion of you counts. (And even then, you're gonna want more than one opinion, because no doctor/therapist is perfect.
Being young and all, you may just be going through something like growing pains.
You could have a major hormone disorder you'r much better off catching now!
Depression is not always just mental. Could be physical causes that you'd never even believe.
So, yes, ask, and no, you're not being a baby.

No, there is nothing stupid about talking to a doctor about depression – it is the smartest thing you can do!
life is difficult at times...
maybe you just need to learn how to talk about things and/or cope with them - it takes time and practice... or it could be a more serious medical contition, requiring medication...

Be careful If a doctor just brushes you off and gives you prescription - you should be tested before they prescribe medication .. consider seeking a second opinion… drugs only help if you really need them and the side effect can be dangerous…

Take care of yourself! ;)

Depression affects millions of people. If you have a concern, the best person to ask is your doctor. They would rather have you ask than not and they may even know how to help you or refer you to someone who can better evaluate your stress. The only dumb question is the one unasked.

you dont could be here... yea the questions are kinda depressing yet those are human beings searching for help because of the fact they could hear it from somebody else to be reassured of what they already understand... in case you certainly take a verify out those human beings they are customarily solid people who merely desire help to handle issues that they experience are merely too no longer common to deal with and yea they gets by it yet its the element that they desire help so in case you dont choose to help then dont come here anymore...
