your mb model must be written between PCI slats or when u turn on your computer at boot screen it must write the model just press pausebreak button and write down model and check for it be carefull with bios update if u do it in wrong way you have to put your mb in trash.

Firstly, upgrading BIOS has no relation with running Win 2000, Win XP SP1 or SP2. However, in case you still want to upgrade your BIOS whichis a very good thing to do and you donot know which motherboard you are using, then follow these steps:-
Download "Everest Free Edition" from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Install Everest application. Run it.
Then Click on Motherboard on the left hand pane and then again select Motherboard from the child menus hat open up.
On the right pane, you will find the Motherboard name.
If it is Intel 845GVSR or Intel 845GVSN, then select your motherboard from the site "http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboard/index.htm?iid=prod_desk+sc_board" and you can download the latest BIOS updates. If your motherboard is not an Intel motherboard i.e. although the chipset is of Intel but the manufacturer of the motherbaord wherein the chipsets reside is not of Intel, then, you will have to go to the site of your Motherboard manufacturer who will provide the necessary BIOS updates.

Leave the BIOS alone. If I understand part of what you are saying, you are currently running Windows 2000 Pro. So why are you trying to load XP SP2? SP 2 is for Windows XP, not Windows 2000. Get the Win2000 updates if your operating system software is legal, and your BIOS will be fine,.

You must have winXP to load SP2. You have win2000. That won't work. Get winXP Home WITH SP2 already on it and get rid of win2000! Your talking about "flashing" your BIOS, best back up the entire hard drive BEFORE you do that!
