TiVo is a popular brand of DVR. A DVR (digital video recorder) is a hard drive-based set-top device that allows users to record their favorite shows and watch them later. It's basically the next-generation VCR, but it's easier and it has more features. For instance, you can pause and rewind LIVE TV. I recommend getting one.

Tivo is a program that allows you to have a main database of movies/tv shows/programs that you have recorded. You can record something and then go and watch a different thing that you have recorded. In some Tivo's you can even record something and watch
live tv on a different channel.

it is basically the same as sky+, but without all the problems. all the tv channels get recorded onto a hard drive so you can watch what you want when you want & skip the adverts.
