I wasn't there but the evidence that the Salem witch trials did occur is very well documented. It is a horrific story of misjustice @ its worst; yet at the same time a very intriguing study of human psychology. when i first read of the history i lived on the eastern seaboard.i was very blessed to have, had field trips to the well preserved Salem villages. it was my belief than and still holds true to me today that had any of "us " lived in those times we would have @ the very least been accused of being a witch, ( or a warlock;) and quite possibly burned @ the stake.

Yes, although none of the witches were burned, contrary to popular conception. Here is a collection of documents related to the trials.

Yes it was.. unfortunately.
It hapenned during a time when whatever that was not seen as "logical" was blamed on magic, witchcraft, or the devil.
17 innocent, blameless men and women were burned at the stake for something they did not do: cast a curse over two village girls.
It's now said that the unusual, frightening behavior of the two supossedly 'cursed' girls were from contaminated rye plants that contained toxins.
hope this helps!

yes people believed there were witches cause there was a shortage of land during that time period. in order to get dome more land they accused peopel of being witches.
the "witches" actually came about from peopel eating wheat fromt he fields/ the wheat had a fungus on it called ergot. once in the system egrot causes hallucinations and such. these were considered the witches. although they did not know a fungus was causign them to act liek this =)
