how many MPG about would 351 windsor get in a mid sized car? how many would a 351 cleveland get ? i'm thinking about buying a '64 ford fairlane with a 351, i haven't seen it yet, the owner doesn't know if it's a 351C or a 351W, but what about do you think the gas milage would be on it?

it's got a 3 speed colum shift, the 351 is out of a grand torino, i'm not sure about the rear end. thanks for the answers.

You didn't say what tranny and rear end. You could expect 12-16 mpg out of either motor.

I don't think the Windsor or Cleveland makes a difference.

It's more dependent on the carburetor.

A 4 barrel carb might get you 10 MPG or less.
A 2 barrel carb might get you 14 MPG or less.

Older cars also have to be warmed up. If you drive short trips without the motor getting warmed up the choke might stay on making the gas mileage worse.

No offense, but if your worried about gas mileage then this is the wrong car for you, go buy a sunfire or something good on gas, by the way a fairlane must likely has a windsor engine as they fit in easily, a cleveland requires quite a bit of work!
