I would talk to the county clerk at the county where your baby was born. They should be able to tell you the process to correcting a birth certificate. You may require a court order but I don't know. The best thing I can suggest is talk to the county clerk. Then schedule a consultation with a family attorney to see what he/she recommends. You want to make sure you get this taken care of properly.

Yes, that's the only way the name can be change by DNA testing proving otherwise. But you will still have to get permission from the real father.

the father has to be there to change the name on the birth certificate however, the names the birth certificate left from the hospital will remain like that on the original certificate no matter if you change it later.

When my grandson was born they told my daughter that you can change the name on the birth certificate for two years, after that you must go to court and have it changed legally.
