It is just conventional.

If you look at the Electromagnetic Stress-Energy Tensor you will see that its expression has a 1/4pi in it. This cancels out the one in Einstein's Equation.

You could redefine all the physical properties units to include a Root(4pi) so the equation became: G = T ------ very enigmatic!!!!
