A spirit level is just one of those levels that has the little tubes in the middle with green liquid and a little bubble. Most people just call it a level. There's a picture of it on the link I'm giving you. It's available at any hardware store, Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, pretty much any place that has a hardware department. If you go to a hardware store, especially Home Depot, talk to someone who works there about your project and what's gone wrong and ask for some advice on how to fix the problem.

Man, your husband sounds like a real jerk if he's throwing a FIT over something like this. Take him down a peg or two by getting that level and fixing those shelves yourself.

Any hardware store will have a level. There are many different kinds. The most common is a bubble level, it has clear tubes with liquid it them and when the air bubble is between the two lines it is level. They also have laser levels that are very easy to use.

i assume they r falling off because the shelf is unlevel....lowes or the equal carries a small multi-level that u can put on the shelves and levels it in many directions.....the best way is to get a cheap wall attachable leaser level, $ 15.00, set it to the height u want the shelves and screw ur brackets at the red line......

a spirit level is a small bubbled level. but if things keep falling off, you've either got a bad eye or a train goes right by your house.

if you husband is such an expert get him to do it!

otherwise go to a hardwarew store. youll know the shelf is level because the bubble will rest exactly between the two lines

i think you should get your eyes tested first, no disrespect, ( a spirit level is a piece long/or short of straight material with a liquid centre complete with a bubble & two lines, the object is to get the bubble in the centre of the two lines this will complete your objective) you can find them in B & Q or similar outlets near to your home.
