i've been with two asian girls and none told their parents that i was their bf. I only went out with both for 3 months, but I still kind of felt insulted by that, kinda felt that i wasn't really accepted.

Asian families are typically very traditional (i.e. no sex before marriage, must marry within culture, etc). My best friend is Chinese and the only boyfriend of hers that her parents even knew about was Chinese. Don't take it personally-- it's not you, it's her parents' culture.

If you are not Asian yourself, then yes, Asian girls will keep it quiet from a lot of people as respect to their parents.Many Asian parents are of the "old school" and would look at this as a betrayal of their faith. Now, when those young Asian girls become parents, they will not look at it so much in a bad way because as time goes on, the more "Westernized" they have become.

Don't take it to hard. I'm Asian and my parents and some of my family is old fashion and doesn't understand about interracial relationships. I have never dated my own kind but every time I bring some one home to met, they will always find something wrong with the boyfriend. Your girlfriend is probably trying to spare you some insults from her parents. Talk to her and tell her how you feel.

Pretty normal, yes. Some Asian parents are traditional and their children assume they wouldn't approve of an interracial relationship. Many times they wouldn't approve.
But just because it's normal doesn't mean it's right. If your girlfriend is over 18, she can technically stand up to her parents if she wants to.

it's normal, ive had 3 bfs and i never told my parents...>< its normal, its mostly because asian parents don't like their daughters dating until they're like...50 well thats what my parents make me feel...its probably better too cuz no matter what they won't accept you. that is unless your the same ethnic group as they are, even THEN they would be a little weird

Yes. Its that most asian parents (from the homeland) want their daughters and sons to marry other asians.
Sad, but thats their culture.

Oh...... YES!!!! Asian parents are extremely strict.... If you aren't Asian, they wont tell there parents until they feel the time is right

Same with us Hispanics. Very hard to take Home out of race. But you know what? My sister married a African American, nothing wrong with that I think, but dad almost had a heart attack!! Really. He is okay now and even loves her two biracial kids...
